Tips For Selling Your Home In The Fall

Posted on

If you have decided to sell your home in the fall, you are taking advantage of the fact that fall is cool enough that people are willing to go outside and show off their cute sweaters, but not so cold that people don't want to leave their houses. Here are some tips for other aspects of fall that you can take advantage of in order to make sure that you sell your house as quickly and as profitably as possible.

1. Get Rid of the Leaves Unless You Have Kids

Get rid of the leaves in front of your house in order to keep it looking fresh. This will help the outside of your house look its best and allow you to stay on top of your yard work. If you have children, however, and find that you attract a lot of people looking at your home who also have children, keep the leaves. Put on the open house fliers that you send out that you will have leaves and other outdoor games to help occupy children for any couples that need to bring their children with them. This will help you create a friendlier atmosphere for people who need to see your house only on the weekends. Tell your real estate agent about this so that he or she can let buyers know.

Make sure that you keep your yard relatively clean except for the large pile of leaves.

2. Use Flowers on Your Porch In the Colors of Fall

Buy red, orange, and yellow flowers to decorate your porch. Getting chrysanthemums is an excellent choice because those flowers bloom for a long time. Consider getting them in baskets to hang on your porch, putting them in vases around the outside of your house, and planting them in your garden. Consider decorating with pumpkins as well.

3. Don't Run Your Heater Until You've Changed the Filter

You want your house to be cozy and warm, so you likely will want to turn on the heater for chillier days when you are showing your house. However, if you have not run your heater in a long time, you will want to change the filter to make sure that, when you first run it, it smells good. Consider lighting candles that have fall scents or the scent of baking cookies in order to further improve the smell of your home.
