Four Things That You Can Do for Your Realtor to Help Your Home Sell

Posted on

If you are trying to sell your home, your realtor might offer up advice and selling tips that you are reluctant to take on. The thing is, in a competitive market, heeding the advice of your realtor is key. Here are four things that every home seller should do in order to up their chances for offers.

1. Make Your Home Accessible for Viewings

Your home will never sell if people cannot get in to see it. If you are living in your home while it is on the market, a couple of open houses during weekends might not be enough. Make sure that realtors and potential buyers have access to your home during the week as well, preferably on a set schedule. Plan to be out of the house at these times.

2. Remove Personal Items

Home buyers want to envision themselves in your house, not feel like they are just visiting someone else's home. This can be hard to do if you all of your family photos are on the mantle, and your cat's food dishes and cat box are out. A home that looks lived in can be distracting and can be hard for a potential buyer to get past. Make sure to clear clutter and hide all traces of pets.

3. Agree on a Fair Price

Most people don't sell homes very often, and need to take the advice of realtors to help come up with current market value. If you are too stubborn with your asking price you might not get any offers, or offers might not stick if your price is too much above an appraisal valuation. Listen to your realtor and do some market research to make sure that your home is priced appropriately to sell.

4. Help Play up the Neighborhood

Hopefully your realtor is familiar with the area and can give some details to potential buyers on the neighborhood. If you have other details such as block parties, things for kids to do, or yearly events or concerts, they should be showcased. Make sure that your realtor is equipped with this info so they can play up the uniqueness of your home's location.

The process of selling a home can seem fickle sometimes, but you should still try your best to help your realtor, one like Greenways Real Estate & Auction, by taking their professional advice. Making a few sacrifices to get your home available to buyers, looking good, and set at a fair price will help your home sell.
